The river Phalgu which flows past Gaya in Bihar, is a sacred river for Hindus. People from all over the world visit Gaya.
There is reference to the city of Gaya and the Phalgu in the Ramayana in which it says that Sita had cursed the Phalgu River. The Phalgu river henceforth would have no water at Gaya, though apparently, there is water upstream as well as downstream. Dig just a few inches in the sand and you will see the water gushing out!
